Exaggerated atrial arachidonate metabolism in rabbit left ventricular myocardial infarction.

چکیده
Isolated perfused rabbit hearts that have previously been subjected to in vivo left ventricular myocardial infarction respond to N-formylmethionyl-leucyl-phenylalanine (fMLP) or bradykinin (BK) administration with the synthesis of large quantities of eicosanoids. To anatomically localize these synthetic responses we studied the effects of fMLP and BK on eicosanoid synthesis in isolated atria and isolated perfused ventricles from normal and infarcted (4 d in vivo) rabbit hearts. These studies revealed that enhanced agonist-stimulated eicosanoid synthesis occurs largely in the right atria of infarcted hearts, a site distant from the zone of injury. Studies of exogenous arachidonate metabolism in microsomes prepared from various regions of the heart showed that while prostaglandin synthetic capacity is preferentially localized to the right atrium, right atria from normal and infarcted hearts have similar thromboxane and PGE2 synthetic capacity. These results demonstrate that enhanced agonist-stimulated eicosanoid synthesis following rabbit left ventricular myocardial infarction occurs largely in the right atrium, and that this effect is independent of the activity of prostaglandin synthetic enzymes.

fMet-Leu-Phe receptor expression by an interstitial cell in rabbit right atrium following left ventricular myocardial infarction.
Previous studies have shown that rabbit hearts subjected to in vivo left ventricular myocardial infarction and subsequent ex vivo perfusion respond to N-formylmethionyl-leucyl-phenylalanine (fMLP) with enhanced eicosanoid synthesis. This synthetic response occurs primarily in the right cardiac atrium, a site distant from the injury, and is not the result of increased enzymatic capacity for arac...
متن کاملClinical Significance of P Wave Dispersion in Prediction of Atrial Fibrillation in Patients with Acute Myocardial Infarction
Background: P wave dispersion (PWD) is defined as the difference between the maximum P wave duration (Pmax) and the minimum P wave duration (Pmin) in 12-leads of the surface electrocardiography. The aim of this study was to evaluate the values of PWD during atrial fibrillation (AF) after acute myocardial infarction (AMI). Methods: We prospectively evaluated atrial rhythms of 350 patients (251 m...
متن کاملMyocardial damage of the entire ventricular region in a patient with acute myocardial infarction
Technetium-99m-pyrophosphate (99mTc-PYP) has been used, in combination with thallium-201, to estimate the site and extent of myocardial infarcts. We report a case of acute myocardial infarction with severe coronary disease in which the distribution of 99mTc-PYP was extensive. A 78-year-old man presented with dyspnea, and a diagnosis of non-ST-segment elevation acute myocar...
متن کاملThe effect of eight weeks of moderate-intensity endurance training on myocardial capillary density, ejection fraction and left ventricular shortening fraction in male rats with myocardial infarction
Background and objective: Vascular obstruction and impaired blood flow and oxygen delivery cause a myocardial infarction and limit a personchr('39')s function. Therefore, finding a way to create new arteries and replace blocked arteries has always been of interest to researchers, including exercise physiologists. Therefore, this study was conducted to evaluate the effect of eight weeks of moder...
متن کاملExercise training has restorative potential on myocardial energy metabolism in rats with chronic heart failure
Objective(s): Exercise training is a well-known accelerator for the treatment of chronic heart failure (CHF). The current study aimed to investigate the restorative effects of aerobic interval training (AIT) intervention on myocardial energy metabolism in CHF rats. Materials and Methods: Post-myocardial infarction (MI) heart failure animal model was established. The Sprague-Dawley rats were ran...
